Reminder - No lessons next week!

There are no lessons next week (week commencing Monday 8th December). However, we will be running a free-style/practise sessions on the Wednesday. Julia, Yersin and the team will be there to help with any (salsa-related) problems, so come and ask us for a dance!

CHRISTMAS PARTY 20th DECEMBER

Christmas Party

Our Christmas party is booked for:

Saturday, 20th December 2008, 8pm - 1am at The Martlets

I'm delighted to tell you that we have the fabulous 'La Cuba Ritmo' coming to perform live for us.

About the musicians:- Bandleader & violinist Gabriel Fonseca was born in Bayamo and studied at the National School of music in Havana, he later joined the Santiago de Cuba Philharmonic Orchestra and then went on to perform with two of Cuba's leading salsa bands Candido Fabre y Su Banda and Original de Manzanillo. With his powerful electric violin, Gabriel is a fine melodic improviser with impeccable technique. On lead vocals, Yuri from Santiago de Cuba fronts the band with her suavely passionate voice, her energetic and bubbly persona make her an essential part of the band's chemistry. On baby bass and also from Santiago de Cuba is the amazing Oscar Vazquez. On Congas, Randy Lester from Santiago de Cuba. His superior playing alongside Michel from Camaguay on Timbales create an awesome rhythm section. Both musicians previously played with Cuban band Sur Caribe. On piano, the talented and well respected Sara McGuiness

Do encourage your 'non-salsa' friends and relatives to come along, as we'll run a special Christmas 'taster' session for absolute beginners at the start of the evening. If your guests don't want to dance, it really doesn't matter, as there will be plenty for them to watch!

Tickets for the Christmas Party are £15 and are available to buy on lesson nights or directly from Julia, but hurry, 'cos they're going fast! Please note I will be unable to offer refunds on any returned tickets.

Halloween Club Night

A big thank you to everbody who helped to make our Halloween Club Night at The USC such a huge success. There are clearly some exhibitionists among us, as you can see from the picures on the gallery! Many thanks to Caroline for the great photos.

November-December Timetable

Please note that The Martlets is unavailable for 2 of our regular Monday night slots. This has resulted in a bit of re-juggling and as a result, the 'Week 3' Monday night session will move to the next day (Tuesday) and the 'Week 6' slot will be held over until the following week. I apologise for any inconvenience this causes but it really was circumstances beyond my control.
