Hi Everyone
I hope you’re all doing well.
Firstly, my apologies for the long delay in restarting the lessons at our Club. For personal reasons, I’ve needed to remove my foot from the gas for a while, but that hasn’t stopped me from missing you all very much. I’m very keen to get the salsa club restarted, particularly as we’ll be celebrating our 20th anniversary later this year. We’ll be re-opening the Club on Monday, 13th October 2025 at the Wivelsfield Village Hall and on Thursday, 16th October at St Wilfrid’s School, Haywards Heath. Our plan is to restart at a gentle pace and then reintroduce further levels when everyone is ready. Please read on for further details.
Your brilliant feedback…thank you.
A few weeks ago, I reached out to our WhatsApp group members and asked for some feedback regarding their experience at our Club. It was a very valuable exercise and I’m so grateful to those who found the time to respond. There were some fabulous comments, and I thank you so much for your positivity and honesty. Here are some of the common themes, which deserve a mention.
More guided practice and freestyle opportunities, during and after the classes.
More 'switch' tracks—where dancers rotate partners multiple times during a song.
In terms of new material, ‘less is more’. More time is required to really learn/remember the moves.
Party nights are loved.
Once again, thank you for this feedback. We’ll do our best to ’tweak’ things a little ready for our Club restart.
FREE TASTER at Wivelsfield Village Hall
Monday, 13th October - 7pm - 8pm

We’d love you to join us for our free taster session at Wivelsfield Village Hall. The session is for absolute beginners to salsa and provides the best opportunity to ’try before you buy’ with no obligation to commit to our 4-week course (although we’d love you to, of course!). Starting anything new can feel daunting, but I assure you that any nerves will soon be left behind.
Please drop me a line if you’d like to join us. I’d love to hear from you.
After the free taster…social dancing for all levels from 8:30pm
FREE ENTRY
It would be great to keep the dance floor busy after the taster session and I know we can count on you! Please join us from 8.30pm. It will be so lovely to see you all! Higher-level lessons will be returning on Monday evenings eventually and further details will follow.
4-Week Beginner Course for Absolute Beginners to Salsa
Monday, 20th October - 7pm - 8:15pm
The 4-week Beginner Course is a must for anyone wanting a foundation in Cuban-style salsa. The course is designed to enable the participants to consolidate the previous week’s material but will introduce some important new elements required for Cuban-style salsa. Sadly, we’re unable to offer pay-as-you-go as an option for the 4-week course, but we can offer ‘catch-up’ sessions for anyone who misses a class.
Cost for Beginner Course
The cost for our 4-week course is £40* per person.
(*£40pp when booked and paid for in advance of the course start date. The normal cost is £48pp).
Our beginner course will go ahead if we have a reached the minimum number of participants, which is 14 people. We will be able to determine numbers for our Beginner Course at our Free Taster event, which is also a good opportunity to pay for the course (cash or card). If you’re unable to make it to the taster, but would like to book for the course, please drop me a line and I’ll forward the booking form. We won’t take any payments in advance, unless we have at least 14 participants for the course and can guarantee going ahead.

We look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday evenings with an ‘Easy-Going/Back to Salsa’ session. We'll need a bit of a practice after this long break, so this level will be perfect for anyone who previously attended our Improver and Intermediate sessions on either Monday and/or Thursday evenings, earlier this year. We’ll practice some easy routines, dance a little rueda and get ourselves back into the salsa groove.
Please hold the date…Friday, 5th December at Wivelsfield Village Hall
We’ll be hosting a reunion party to celebrate our 20th Anniversary of the SalsaJulia Club. I ran my first taster sessions at a small studio in Haywards Heath back in November 2005 and I’m proud and honoured to have many of our ‘originals’ still dancing with us today. Further party details will follow...
Thanks for reading this newsletter and we hope to see you on the dance floor very soon.
